Esme and John are looking somewhere for shelter from the rain. Tisiphone -- who is currently stalking John, follows them in. Once within the Cathedral, both John and Esme feel an eerie presence [as most do when Tisiphone's involved] but actually never see anything.
A while later, Tisiphone sees that John actually seems to have a bit of a crush on Esme. The way his body language is, the way he talks, etc. She gets jealous and has a flashback of the one day she and John crossed paths.
Later, Pocahontas attacks Esmeralda but John finds them and stops Tisiphone before either of them get hurt. He tries to ask her what's wrong and why she's here, but she eventually leaves, heartbroken, knowing that everything she had with John was a fabrication.
Esmeralda, figuring out what's happened, goes after Tisiphone, and follows her to the roof. She then approaches her, and while she doesn't exactly like her, apologises for what Tisiphone has had to go through -- as it was never her fault that John had those powers.
YEY PROGRESSION.
